What. A. Year.
I just wrote my annual review- linked to it in my bio. Listing the big wins, the unexpected things, my favorites, all that. This was a trip around the sun unlike any other.
This year in particular, though, leaves me with so many beautiful mysteries to celebrate.
This was the year: 💥 I launched the #grassrootspodcast and found a new medium for telling global stories about sustainability
💥 I checked off my 48th and 49th states in West Virginia and Wyoming
💥 Deanna and I bought a little condo. Seriously would’ve thought owning a home in San Diego would’ve taken an extra decade.
💥 I said yes to a chance to visit a community in Colombia recovering from years of brutal conflict. I learned so much about the challenge of peace building.
But most of all...
💥 This was the year my son Rhys came into the world. I can’t overstate how much I love being his dad. After a long time of trying for a kid, Deanna endures a rough pregnancy, and it all turned out to be worth it.
2019 was all about seeing the impossible happen right in front of me. The seeds of peace are being planted where one of the most brutal conflicts of my lifetime took place. There’s a strong, sweet baby next to me, after a year of waiting, hoping, and nearly giving up.
When this year began, I was in a much different place. But the words I found helpful then are always worth repeating- keep going. Every day, a few more things happen that were once thought impossible.
