I know I’ve talked plenty about my work here before- but as an organization, @plantwpurpose continues to raise the bar for what I’ve come to expect out of international nonprofits.
If you aren’t careful, today’s solutions can turn into tomorrow’s problems. That’s why I really appreciate that my teammates around the world are always digging deeper and trying to address issues by their root causes.
Picture a rural mother looking over her field, not knowing how that year’s crop production is going to feed her family. She’s had an offer to turn some of the trees on her land into charcoal for cash. That may take care of the next month, but the soil will be even worse for next year’s planting season.
The way I see this scenario keeps evolving. Problems like poverty are greatly connected to the environment. Digging deeper, problems with the environment have spiritual roots. Our relationship with creation is damaged.
I’m happy to support Plant With Purpose again this #GivingTuesday in their quest to help 800+ farmers in that situation this week. Happy to know quite a few orgs (Liberty In North Korea, Preemptive Love, EJI just off the top of my head) that are focused on dealing with root causes.
Who are you excited to support today and why?
